LONG BEACH (CNS) - A man was killed today in Long Beach in a shooting that detectives believe was gang-related, police said.
The shooting was reported at about 12:45 a.m. at South Street and Linden Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Paramedics took the victim to a hospital, where he died. Information on the identity of the man, who was in his 20s, was not immediately available.
According to the preliminary investigation, the man was approached by one or more suspects, and there was a ``verbal dispute,'' police said.
``That dispute led to a physical fight, which escalated into a shooting,'' police said. ``At this time, no suspect information is available, and the motive for the shooting is believed to be gang-related.''
