Governor Appoints Five New Judges in LA County, Three in Orange County

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Gov. Gavin Newsom today announced the appointments of five new judges in Los Angeles County and three in Orange County.

Those named to the bench in Los Angeles County were:

-- Nicholas F. Daum, 47, of Los Angeles, who has been a partner and associate at Kendall Brill & Kelly LLP since 2009 and was an associate at Susman Godfrey LLP from 2004 to 2009

-- Mark A. Davis, 57, of Pasadena, who has been a sole practitioner since 2003

-- Dean J. Kitchens, 69, of Pasadena, who has been a partner at Gibson Dunn since 1986 and has served in several capacities there since 1978, including general counsel and associate

-- Tiana J. Murillo, 42, of Pasadena, who has been assistant county counsel at the Los Angeles County Counsel's Office since 2021, where she has also worked as senior deputy county counsel, deputy county counsel. She has also served as assistant chief executive officer in the Los Angeles County executive office from 2019 to 2021 and as chief of staff of the Los Angeles County Probation Department from 2018 to 2019

-- Bradley S. Phillips, 68, of Los Angeles, who has been a partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP since 1984, and was an associate there from 1979 to 1983.

Named to the bench in Orange County were:

-- Adrianne E. Marshack, 44, of Irvine, who has been a partner at Goodwin Procter LLP since 2021 and was a partner at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP from 2016 to 2021 and an associate there from 2009 to 2014. She previously was counsel at Greenberg Gross LLP from 2015 to 2016 and partner at Katz Yoon LLP from 2014 to 2015, an associate at Hodel Briggs Winter LLP from 2008 to 2009 and an associate at Morrison & Foerster LLP from 2007 to 2008

-- Yolanda V. Torres, 48, of Huntington Beach, who has been a sole practitioner since 2008 and was an adjunct professor at Western State University College of Law from 2017 to 2021. She previously worked as an associate at the law office of Patrick A. McCall from 2003 to 2008, at Hughes & Sullivan from 2002 to 2003 and at Alexandra Leichter Law Offices in 2002

-- Fernando Valle, 44, of Santa Ana, who has been a senior deputy public defender since 2021 at the Orange County Public Defender's Office, where he has worked in several roles since 2004.
