As China continues to battle its worst COVID outbreak since the virus first surfaced, the government has ordered three lockdowns that affect 51.5 million residents.

  • The cities of Jilin, which has a population of 24 million people, Shenzhen, which has 17.5 million residents, and Dongguan, which has 10 million, have been locked down amid the country's rising number of cases, the government has announced.
  • On Monday, Chinese health officials reported 1,437 cases -- four times the number it reported last week.
