KOREATOWN (CNS) - It took more than 100 firefighters 18 minutes to put out flames in a senior apartment building in Koreatown today.

The greater-alarm fire was reported at 1:50 p.m. in the four-story building at 3669 W. Ninth St., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department's Brian Humphrey. Flames were visible from a second-floor unit when firefighters arrived.

``The self evacuation of many residents was calmly underway on LAFD arrival, with some residents subsequently assisted to safely shelter in place under the supervision of LAFD responders,'' Humphrey said.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was out at 2:08 p.m. and its cause was under investigation, he said.
