Officials say the deployment isn’t in response to any changes on the ground, but part of the roughly 12,000 troops that have been put on heightened alert to deploy since early February.
A statement explained, “These enablers were already kind of queued up to go in. Again, it’s fully supportive of our efforts to be able to defend NATO airspace if needed.”
