Tinder is taking a new step to help notice red flags about potential dates by offering a background check tool in the app's Safety Center.
For a small fee, users can conduct background checks through Garbo, an agency that searches public arrest records, convictions, and sex offender registries across the country.
However, experts say this isn't necessarily a total fix because research has shown that sexual crimes are often not reported to authorities.
Last year, Tinder rolled out another security feature with ID verification, showing users that identities have been verified via photo.
