LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A gala honoring Time's Women of the Year will be held tonight in Los Angeles, coinciding with International Women's Day.
The honorees are:
-- Tracy Chou, a co-founder of Project Include, a nonprofit organization seeking to accelerate diversity and inclusion in the tech industry;
-- human rights attorney Amal Clooney;
-- record-setting track star Allyson Felix;
-- Nasdaq CEO Adena Friedman;
-- poet Amanda Gorman;
-- Sherrilyn Ifill, president and director-counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund;
-- Afghan journalist Zahra Joya;
-- Jennie Joseph, a health advocate for women and newborn babies;
-- Grammy-winning country singer Kacey Musgraves;
-- Amanda Nguyen, the founder and CEO of Rise, a coalition of sexual assault survivors and allies who fight for the rights of sexual violence survivors worldwide;
-- Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, the first transgender woman to earn an Emmy Award nomination in a major acting category; and
-- actress Kerry Washington, honored for her activism supporting grassroots organizations that empower marginalized groups.
All but Clooney, Friedman and Joya are set to attend the gala, organizers said. Musgraves will perform.
This is the first year Time has released a Women of the Year list and follows the magazine's Women of the Year project, which in 2020 recognized 100 leaders, innovators, activists, entertainers, athletes and artists who defined a century.
