DOWNEY (CNS) - One person was killed and two other people were injured when a gray Nissan Altima went approximately 200 yards down an embankment from the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Downey, authorities said today.
The crash occurred at about 10:50 p.m. Saturday on a transition road from the southbound freeway to the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Paramedics dispatched to the location at 10:54 a.m. rushed three people to an area trauma center, where one of them died from injuries suffered in the single-vehicle crash, according to a public information officer with the Downey Fire Department.
Firefighters sent to the scene reported that two people had been ejected from the Nissan and another was trapped inside the wreckage.
The cause of the crash was being investigated.
