Fire Displaces Five in Long Beach Apartment

LONG BEACH (CNS) - A trash bin fire spread to a Long Beach apartment building today, displacing five people and a pet.  

Long Beach Fire Capt. Jack Crabtree told the Long Beach Post the fire was reported at 2:20 p.m. in the 1000 block of Lewis Avenue, near 11th Street  

Crabtree said it took firefighters five minutes to extinguish it but it spread to a unit in the building.  

The Red Cross responded to the scene to help the residents. No injuries were reported.
