Russian troops have seized the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant, according to Yevgeniya Kuznetsovа, spokesperson for the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management spokesperson.
- “When I came to the office today in the morning [in Kyiv], it turned out, that the [Chernobyl nuclear power plant] management had left. So there was no one to give instructions or defend," said Kuznetsovа.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had shared earlier in the day that Russian troops were attempting to seize the plant.
- Ukraine's National Guard had been attempting to protect the plant from a possible attack.
