Beginning Friday, Los Angeles County COULD relax its indoor mask mandate for the vaccinated.
In a tweet sent out Tuesday, Supervisor Janice Hahn said that the Department of Public Health will be issuing a new public health order that would allow vaccinated individuals to take their masks off in indoor public spaces that check for proof of vaccination. Also noting - that this new public health order would bring Los Angeles closer to aligning with California's masking rules.
In a statement to the Los Angeles Times, the Department of Public Health said:
“[The Department of Public Health] is considering possible options for lifting indoor masking protections earlier at sites where there are other additional layers of protection, such as vaccination verifications,”
To add, additional details about this public health order will be announced on Wednesday.
Supervisor Kathryn Barger also tweeted about the new public health order that will be officially announced imminently. Barger said:
"This is another step towards living [with] COVID-19 in a balanced way."
Last week, County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said that certain changes in-regards to COVID-19 masking guidelines were in the works.
This news has many excited, but there is also a large number of Angelenos that feel that unmasking in indoor settings may be too soon.
