Thousands of baptisms are now invalid because a Phoenix priest used "incorrect wording" during the ceremonies, the Catholic Church reports.
- Reverend Andres Arango, who served in Arizona for 16 years, reportedly started off each baptism by saying, "We baptize you," officials with the Catholic Church say. However, he should have said, "I baptize you." According to the Catholic Church, "we" refers to the church, while "I" refers to Jesus Christ, working through the priest.
- Officials are now attempting to track down everyone Arango has baptized over the years to tell them of the error, they say.
- Can't the Catholic Church do one service that covers all of the people who didn't get baptized?
