Lt. Gail Halvorsen, better known as the 'Berlin Candy Bomber', has died at the age of 101.
- Halvorsen was an Air Force transport pilot who become famous for dropping 23 tons of candy and chocolate - wrapped in parachutes - for the children of West Berlin in 1948.
- Halverson continued to make good-will trips to Berlin over the years and even wrote a memoir titled The Berlin Candy Bomber.
