SANTA MONICA (CNS) - A man has been arrested in a hit-and-run that critically injured a 16-year-old girl riding a bicycle in Santa Monica, police said today.

Maximiliano Ramos Santiago, 29, of Los Angeles was arrested at his home on Monday, and was booked on suspicion of felony hit and run and driving without a license, the Santa Monica Police Department reported.

The girl was injured about 2 a.m. Sunday at Chelsea Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, police said.

``When officers arrived on scene, they found the bicyclist, a 16-year- old female, down with severe injuries,'' police said in a statement. ``Santa Monica Fire Department personnel arrived shortly, rendered first aid then transported the victim to a local hospital. She is currently listed in critical condition.''

Officers towed Santiago's vehicle, a black Chevrolet sedan, to be processed for evidence, police said.

Anyone with information about the case was urged to call investigators at 310-458-8954, or the watch commander at 310-458-8426.
