It has been a very interesting couple of weeks in regards to masking and mask restrictions.
If you recall a few weeks back, the “Trio of Hypocrites” LA Mayor Eric Garcetti, SF Mayor London Breed, and CA Governor Gavin Newsom were all pictured at the NFC Championship Game maskless. One of the explanations for breaking their own rules at this game was “I held my breath while taking the picture,”… Not only did this enrage hundreds of CA residents, but it also rose many questions.
Children in California must remain masked while at school, while playing on a schoolyard, but these elected officials are allowed to break their own rules with no repercussions? That is not right.
Well, now there is another public official who was pictured maskless at the NFC Championship Game. A member of the California Teachers Association Board of Directors member Jesse Aguilar was seen posing maskless at the game.
This picture of Aguilar enraged many parents due to the hypocrisy that their children have to wear masks at all times during a school day, but Aguilar is seen maskless with 70,000 other strangers.
Aguilar released a statement in regards to his actions. He said:
"This person wants to know where my mask was. It was in my pocket. I took it off for the picture. There was nobody in front of me," … "I’m glad to wear my mask in a pandemic. It’s not hard and it shows I care about the people around me. I was glad SoFi required proof of vaccination. Getting vaccinated is the sane thing to do in a pandemic. I’m glad sane people behave in a sane manner in an insane time. Where’s your mask?"
