AZUSA (CNS) - Los Angeles County firefighters were battling a small brushfire in the mountains above Azusa tonight that prompted street closures in the area.
The blaze, which had charred between one or two acres by about 9 p.m. was burning near the area of East Sierra Avenue and Azusa Veterans Way, Dispatch Supervisor Robert Diaz told City News Service.
The brush fire was reported at 6:51 p.m., Diaz said.
The department was using two water-dropping helicopters in their battle to control the flames, according to the department.
Azusa police told CBS Los Angeles they had closed Camellia Way, Sproul Avenue and Orange Blossom Way in the ongoing fire fight.
No buildings were immediately threatened by the fire but fire crews warned residents to be ready for an evacuation.
