More information is being released about the merger between Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines today.
The companies said in a joint press release on Monday that the move will create the country's "most competitive ultra-low fare" airline.
The 6.6-billion dollar transaction is expected it to close in the second half of this year.
Officials say that by combining, they'll be able to offer travelers even better deals and more reliable service, with about a thousand daily flights to nearly 150 destinations in 19 countries.
"In a competitive industry like ours, the lowest costs always win," Frontier Chief Executive Barry Biffle told analysts. "These low costs will, in turn, enable us to keep our fares low for customers."
The merge is also expected to directly add 10-thousand jobs by 2026.
