LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Firefighters today quickly extinguished a fire in a restaurant under renovation on the ground floor of a high-rise building in downtown Los Angeles.

The fire was reported about 8:30 a.m. in the 200 block of South Grand Avenue, said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

``The fire was contained to the restaurant ... but the smoke has traveled to varying degrees up through the building,'' Stewart said in a statement.

``Firefighters are in the process of locating/recalling all elevators in the building -- 27 floors -- and assisting anyone who may be stuck,'' Stewart said.

One possible burn patient was being treated at the scene. It was unclear if anyone else was injured. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
