LAPD: Possible Gang Shooting in South L.A. Leaves Five Wounded

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A man who allegedly shot and wounded five people at a party in the South Los Angeles area was shot and killed as he tried to get away, police said today.  

The shooting occurred about 10:40 p.m. Sunday at Hill and 35th streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.  

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the fatally wounded man, who was in his 30s.  

According to the preliminary investigation, a party was in progress at the location when the suspect drove up, got out of his vehicle, and opened fire on the crowd, police said. As he tried to drive away, one or more shots were fired at him from the crowd, fatally wounding him, police said.  

Three women and two men were transported for hospital treatment in unknown condition, police said. The shooting may have been gang-related, police said.
