TORRANCE (CNS) - A 55-year-old attempted murder suspect was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service and brought back to Torrance for booking on that charge.

The attempted murder reportedly took place in early November, according to Torrance police Sgt. Mark Ponegalek. Officers responded to the 23500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue and found a victim who had been pistol- whipped by the alleged suspect, Phuc Hoang, and while running away was allegedly shot at by Hoang who is from Orange County.

Hoang escaped before officers got to the scene, Ponegalek said. Torrance detectives then began working with the Marshals Service to find Hoang.

On Monday, the Marshals Service located Hoang in Huntington Beach and took him into custody peacefully, Ponegalek said.

Hoang is facing charges that include attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, assault with a firearm, and residential burglary with a person present, Ponegalek said.
