Woman Found Shot Dead in SUV Parked on Long Beach Street

LONG BEACH (CNS) - A woman in her 30s was found shot dead today in what police said was an ``SUV type vehicle'' parked on a street in Long Beach.

Officers were dispatched a little after 7:20 a.m. Sunday to the 1300 block of West 16th Street to assist the Long Beach Fire Department with a ``gunshot victim'' call, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Officers located the woman, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, seated inside the front area of the vehicle. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
