Carlos Marín, Il Divo Singer, Passes Away at Age 53

Carlos Marín, the singer of Il Divo, has passed away at the age of 53 - the band announced on Sunday.

The band announced on December 16th via Twitter that Marín was admitted into a hospital and the band had to postpone U.K. tour dates by a year.

It was not made clear why Marín was admitted into the hospital.

Vocalists Urs Bühler, David Miller and Sébastien Izambard commented on Marín's death by saying:

"He will be missed by his friends, family and fans,"

They continued by saying:

"For 17 years the four of us have been on this incredible journey of Il Divo together, and we will miss our dear friend," ... "We hope and pray that his beautiful soul will rest in peace."

Il Divo was strung together by Simon Cowell in 2003. The group found immense success and produced three U.K. number one albums in their years together.

Cowell commented on the passing of Marín explaining how his passing was difficult on him:

No official cause of death has been announced.
