WESTMINSTER (CNS) - Police sought the public's help to identify the man who attempted to kidnap two women in Westminster.

Westminster Police Department officers were called about 6 p.m. Wednesday to the area of Hoover Street and Garden Grove Boulevard, near the Garden Grove (22) Freeway, and found the two women at the scene, according to Sgt. Eddie Esqueda.

The first woman claimed the suspect approached her in his vehicle and got out to chase her on foot, though she was able to get away and the man returned to his vehicle.

The second woman told officers the man approached her a few minutes after the first incident and attempted to lure her to his car, Esqueda said. The woman ran away, but the man caught her and placed her into his vehicle.

The woman was able to escape the car before the man entered the driver's seat. He drove away from the area once the woman fled.

The two victims were not together, but were coincidentally in the area at the same time, Esqueda said. No injuries were reported in the attempted kidnappings.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man who is between 30 and 50 years old, between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall with a medium build and possibly a dark mustache. His vehicle was possible an early 2000's white Chevrolet Suburban with damage on the front, a tow hitch and a California license plate similar to 7PHW758.

Anyone with information on the attempted kidnappings was asked to call the Westminster Police Department at 714-548-3212 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227.
