Workers at a Buffalo, NY Starbucks have voted to unionize - a move that could signal big changes for the coffee chain.
- Baristas and shift supervisors at the Elmwood Avenue location voted 19-8 to join Workers United - making them the first of Starbucks' nearly 9,000 U.S. stores to unionize.
- Hours before unionization votes were held at three Buffalo stores, Starbucks announced that it would raise its starting wage to $15 per hour and boost pay for longtime workers.
- What does this mean for Starbucks going forward? Will more locations join the union effort?
