Border Protection and United States Customs seized a shipment from China containing what was listed as “Gravity Pipes” at the Washington Dulles International Airport; There were nearly 4,000 of them.
The shipment arrived from China on October 2nd labeled “gravity pipes,” according to the CBP in a release. Import specialists “confirmed that the glass bongs violated U.S. laws on the importation of drug paraphernalia.” The shipment was ordered to an address in Los Angeles County, California.
International passengers and cargo are screened by CPB officers for “illicit narcotics, unreported currency, weapons, counterfeit consumer goods, prohibited agriculture and other illicit products that could potentially harm the American public, U.S. businesses, and our nation’s safety and vitality,” continued the release.
It should be noted that last month, CBP officers in Pharr, Texas seized more than $960,000 worth of cocaine that weighed nearly 125 pounds. It was all hidden in a tractor-trailer coming from Mexico. Additionally, in last week’s release, the CBP seized $23,000 in currency from a couple heading to Ghana. They reported only having $10,500.
The release read: “While inspecting the couple’s carry-on bag, officers discovered an envelope concealed behind the carry-on bag’s zippered liner. Officers verified the couple’s combined currency at $23,641. Officers seized the currency for violating U.S. currency reporting laws and then released the couple with $641 as humanitarian relief.”
All currency must be reported by travelers if exactly or exceeding $10,000 according to Federal law.
