LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped three-tenths of a cent today to $4.713 after rising to record highs three of the past four days.
The decrease is the first since Nov. 9 when the average price dropped two-tenths of a cent, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose 16 of the next 18 days, increasing 12.5 cents, including four-tenths of a cent Saturday. It was unchanged on Tuesday and Friday.
The average price is 1.2 cents more than one week ago, 14.2 cents higher than one month ago and $1.561 greater than one year ago.
It set records on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. The record before Wednesday was $4.705, set Oct. 9, 2012.
The Orange County average price dropped for the second consecutive day after moving within one-tenth of a cent of matching its record high, decreasing three-tenths of a cent to $4.681. It dropped a half-cent on Saturday.
The Orange County average price is 1 cent more than one week ago, 14.7 cents higher than one month ago and $1.55 greater than one year ago.
The Orange County record high is $4.69, set Oct. 8, 2012.
