An O.C. high school football player was severely injured in a locker room hazing "ritual".

A new lawsuit alleges that a football player at a top Orange County high school suffered a broken nose, traumatic brain injury, and gashes in the locker room during a hazing "ritual".

The hazing incident took place in February of this year before a Mater Dei High School practice.

The "ritual" called "Bodies" is described as a newcomer to the football team is matched with a bigger player on the football team. They are supposed to punch each other's torsos. The newcomer though was hit in the face and head and caused severe brain damage and other injuries.

There was a vast delay in treatment and even reporting the incident to the player's family.

The lawsuit filed on Tuesday by the player's family is against Mater Dei High School and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange in Santa Ana. The lawsuit alleges negligence, violation of the penal code, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
