If you are expecting to go shopping at Target on Thanksgiving Day, you may want to think twice. Target has announced that all of its stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day this year and years to come.
Last November, Target decided to close its doors on Thanksgiving Day due to the pandemic, which was a move that seemed unprecedented for the retail giant.
Brian Cornell, CEO of Target discussed closing on Thanksgiving as well as the positive reaction from employees. He said:
“Today, I’m making it official: we’re going to keep our stores closed on future Thanksgivings too,” Cornell told employees in a letter Monday. “What started as a temporary measure driven by the pandemic is now our new standard – one that recognizes our ability to deliver on our guests’ holiday wishes both within and well beyond store hours. You don’t have to wonder whether this is the last Thanksgiving you’ll spend with family and friends for a while, because Thanksgiving store hours are one thing we won’t ‘get back to’ when the pandemic finally subsides.”
Best Buy, Home Depot, Walmart, Costco, Trader Joe's, and Bed Bath & Beyond are some other major retailers that will be closed on "Turkey Day".
If you are planning on doing some shopping this week, it may be wise to do so before Thursday!
