All I Want for Christmas is Free McDonald’s

The Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, has partnered up with McDonald’s and is offering fans an opportunity to win some free food. The “Mariah Menu” debuts next month, offering a different free menu item each day starting on December 13th and concluding on Christmas Eve, December 24th. The catch? Customers will be required to make a $1 minimum purchase to be eligible, and their order must be placed through the McDonald’s app.

Some of the featured menu items eligible to be included in orders for free include the Big Mac on the day the program launches, December 13th, pancakes on December 18th and chocolate chip cookies on Christmas Eve.

“Some of my favorite memories with my kids are our family trips to McDonald’s,” said Carey in a press release. “And of course, each of us has our go-to order. Mine is the cheeseburger, and I get it with extra pickles.”

McDonald’s has had numerous celebrity meals in efforts to promote their product. Last year, it gave away fictional Christmas characters’ favorite foods daily for most of the month of December. This year, “it’s more than just a meal, it’s a whole menu, fit for one of the best-selling female artists of all time.” Other celebrity collaborations have included BTS, Saweetie, Travis Scott and J Balvin.

To the company’s surprise, sales at global restaurants that were open at least 13 months jumped 12.7% in the three months ending on September 30th. They attribute most of this increase to their celebrity meals.

In a synergistic move, the promotion uses existing ingredients or menu items, which creates buzz and enables the company to promote without adding much extra work for their employees. People are also enticed to come in for the promotion and will likely spend more than the $1 requirement to participate and be eligible for the free menu items.

With rivals like Burger King and Shake Shack following suit, McDonald’s has certainly set the bar with their celebrity collaborations. Treat yourself to some McDonald’s and land some free food for the holiday season while you rock out to All I Want for Christmas is You. Mariah Carey says you’re welcome.
