LOS ANGELES (CNS) - La Mirada's Doreen Temple has become a driving force in education. She is going to be the first person to graduate from college though the Auto Club of Southern California no-debt degree program via the AAA Accelerate employee benefit.

She will receive a bachelor of arts degree in organizational leadership from the University of Massachusetts Global while balancing a full-time job and motherhood with her studies.

The AAA Accelerate program is a partnership between the Auto Club of Southern California and UMass Global, formerly Brandman University, a private nonprofit university headquartered in Irvine.

The program was launched in 2019 for people working for Auto Club of Southern California and its affiliates in 20 other states to complete degrees in a variety of study areas. The program has about 80 participants.

Temple joins more than 800 graduates from the class of 2021 and 2020for the UMass Global Southern California commencement. The university's fall graduation ceremonies are the first in-person ceremony since 2019.

The Southern California commencement is Saturday at the Five Point Ampitheatre in Irvine. COVID-19 precaution measures will be in place for all those attending the commencement.

Temple works as an insurance claims representative assigned to the Auto Club's offices in Diamond Bar.
