San Francisco To Ease Indoor Masking Rules As Cases Fall

San Francisco will begin relaxing some indoor masking rules starting October 15, as long as the numbers of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations decline or remain stable, according to city officials.

  • Offices, fitness centers, religious gatherings, and indoor college classes with less than 100 people are all included.
  • People in these settings may remove their masks if the employer or host of the gathering can verify full vaccination of everyone there along with proper ventilation.
Data shows around 75% of the population in San Francisco is fully vaccinated - above the state average of 60%.
  • The number of new infections has been decreasing in San Francisco over the past week.
