Rapid COVID Testing Kits Recalled; Deliver False Positives

The first company to receive FDA clearance to sell at-home COVID tests has issued a recall for more than 200,000 of the kits.

  • Officials with the Australia-based company Ellume say the at-home tests, which deliver results in minutes, have been reported to deliver false positives. They say they've "isolated the cause and confirmed that this incidence of false positives is limited to specific lots."
  • Those lots have been sold through such retailers as Walmart, CVS, Target and Amazon, Ellume officials say. The company plans on notifying everyone who tested positive with the bad kits. If you don't want to wait, you can check to see if your kit is good by calling 888-807-1501.
