Mission Viejo has made Money Magazine’s list of best places to live. It’s the only SoCal city honored this year.
The ranking editors wrote:
“Things are pretty picture-perfect in sunny Mission Viejo … the master-planned community has pristine beaches, top-rated schools and more than four dozen parks across its 18 miles. Even its bathrooms are a wonder.”
The city took 48th place out of 50. At the top of this year’s list was:
- Chanhassen, Minn
- Carmel, Ind
- Franklin, Tenn
- Flower Mound, Texas
- Ashburn, Va
- Syracuse, Utah
- Overland Park, Kansas
- Centennial, Colo
- Scottsdale and Ellicott City, Md
Since 1986, Money Magazine has calculated the most desirable places by looking at data that tracks the economy, housing, demographics, crime, health and culture for municipalities with 500,000 or fewer residents.
In 2019, three SoCal cities made the list of the magazine's then 100-best places to live:
- Irvine #18
- Chino Hills #38
- Eagle Rock #58
