High Winds Forecast for L.A. Mountains, Antelope Valley

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - High winds are forecast today for areas of Los Angeles County, including possible isolated gusts of up to 55 mph in some mountain areas.

A wind advisory will be in effect for the Los Angeles County Mountains, excluding the Santa Monica range, until to 10 a.m. and until 9 p.m. for the Antelope Valley.

In the Los Angeles County Mountains, the National Weather Service forecast areas of northwest to north winds 20 to 30 mph, with gusts to 45 mph -- and isolated gusts to 55 mph possible in favored mountain peaks and valleys.

In the Antelope Valley, the forecast calls for west to northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

The weather service warned that gusts will blow around unsecured objects and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

According to the weather service, Interstate 5 and Highway 14 in Los Angeles County could be particularly affected.

Tree limbs could be blown down and power outages may result, the weather service said.
