SAN DIMAS (CNS) - A Pomona man killed while getting out of his disabled vehicle on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in San Dimas was publicly identified today.

Richard Arena was 64-years-old, the coroner's office said.

The crash occurred a little after 4:45 a.m. Sunday on the westbound San Bernardino Freeway at Kellogg Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Arena was involved in an earlier crash with a 2002 Honda Accord that left his 2013 Toyota Corolla disabled in the No. 2 lane, the CHP said.

A 2010 Ford Fusion struck the disabled Toyota and Arena as he got out of his car, causing fatal injuries. He was then struck by an unknown vehicle that drove away from the scene, the CHP said.

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene at 4:48 a.m. and rushed the 19-year-old man driving the Ford Fusion to Pomona Valley Hospital with lacerations to his head and left hand, the CHP said.

The CHP's Baldwin Park office urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 626-338-1164.
