Authorities ID Man Killed at Metro Station; Investigation Continuing

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Authorities today identified a young man who was fatally shot at a Metro station south of downtown Los Angeles, and continued their efforts to solve the crime.

The shooting occurred about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday at 1945 Long Beach Ave., the Washington Station stop on the Metro A (Blue) Line, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Bryan Gutierrez, 18, of Los Angeles, died at scene, the Los Angeles County coroner's office reported.

According to police, Gutierrez walked off a train car and was killed by a man who fired multiple shots at him and fled on foot. It was unknown if there was any connection between the gunman and the victim.

The suspect was described only as a man between 25 and 30 years old. Anyone with information on the crime was urged to call detectives at 213-486-8700; 877-LAPD-247; or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
