SYLMAR (CNS) - A homicide investigation was underway today into the death of a woman whose body was found in her home in Sylmar.
Officers were sent to the 14500 block of Lyle Street at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The name of the woman, who was in her 30s, was not immediately released. An autopsy was pending to determine her cause of death.
“Obviously, the way that someone is killed is very important for the homicide investigation, which will lead to what evidence we collected in the house and we can connect to the death,'' LAPD Detective Christine Moselle told KTLA5.
Responding officers met family members at the residence, and homicide detectives were called to the scene when the woman's injuries were determined to be suspicious, Moselle said.
Investigators believe the woman had been dead for “at least several days,'' Moselle said.
The woman's husband, from whom she was separated, and her daughters had been in Mexico and found her when they returned, family members told KTLA5.
A vehicle was missing from the home but has been recovered and impounded, Moselle said.
Relatives said her death could be connected to a domestic incident possibly involving the victim's boyfriend, KTLA5 reported.
“At this point we have not positively identified a suspect,'' Moselle said. No arrests have been reported.
