The coronavirus variant mu has been detected in 49 U.S. states.
- Also known as the B.1.621 variant, the strain was first discovered in January in Colombia.
- Along with the 49 U.S. states and District of Columbia having evidence of the strain, it also is appearing in 42 countries.
- The only U.S. state not yet affected by the mu variant is Nebraska.
- So far, the mu variant has been most logged in the state of California.
