Florida Restaurant Workers Receive $10,000 Tip

While waiting tables isn't the world's easiest job, servers at one Florida eatery are likely happy they chose the profession after a customer left them a whopping $10,000 tip.

  • The incident happened Tuesday at Gainsville's Wahoo Seafood Grill, according to restaurant owner Shawn Shepherd. A family had just finished eating dinner when the dad summoned the Wahoo staff to his table and handed over the sizeable check, he says.
  • While it's unclear what sparked the unidentified diner's generosity, Shepherd says his staff has been on cloud nine ever since. "Watching these guys get their check was almost as good as Christmas morning," he says.
  • If you've ever waited tables, what's the biggest tip you've ever received? Why do we tip restaurant servers, but not employees of other businesses?
