Pedestrian Killed on Orange (57) Freeway in Fullerton

FULLERTON (CNS) - A pedestrian was struck by several vehicles this morning on the Orange (57) Freeway in Fullerton, and the fatality resulted in the closure of all southbound lanes through the morning rush hour period, authorities said.

The pedestrian, who was not immediately identified, died at the scene at 5:05 a.m. on the southbound 57 Freeway at the Imperial Highway eastbound on-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim was, for “undetermined reasons,'' walking in the southbound lanes of the freeway when hit by a vehicle, which did not stop. Several other vehicles struck the pedestrian following the initial collision and also continued without stopping or identifying themselves, according to the CHP.

All southbound lanes were closed for about four hours while an investigation was conducted into the circumstances of the death, the CHP reported.
