A Florida couple is in a Hawaiian jail after they were caught using fake COVID-19 vaccination cards to clear airport security, authorities says.
- Miami Beach residents Enzo and Daniela Dalmazzo presented four vaccination cards -- two for themselves, two for their children -- when boarding a flight to Honolulu last week at Miami-Dade Airport, according to the Hawaii Attorney General's Office. However, each of their children is under the age of 12, meaning they're not yet eligible to be vaccinated -- a fact that the airport screener realized moments after the family boarded the plane, says Special Agent Joe Logan.
- The couple was taken into custody on false document charges "moments" after landing in Honolulu, Logan says. They've since been released on an $8,000 bond, court documents reveal.
- Should vaccine cards be made to look more official? Do you think a lot of fake vaccination cards go by unnoticed?
