Victim Identified in Pomona Shooting

POMONA (CNS) - The coroner today identified a 37-year-old man who was shot and killed near Pomona's downtown railroad tracks.

Officers responded at 4:30 p.m. Monday to a “person down'' call between Hamilton Boulevard and Newman Street, where they found the man now identified as Eric Dawson suffering from gunshot wounds, said Pomona Police Department Sgt. Edgard Padilla.

Dawson, whose residence was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene, Padilla said.

Homicide investigators from the Pomona Police Department's Major Crimes Unit are investigating, and the motive for the shooting was not known.
