POMONA (CNS) - A 38-year-old man faces felony vandalism charges for allegedly breaking the windows of seven Pomona businesses as well as a window at the public library, causing an estimated $12,000 in total damages, police said.

The vandalism spree occurred Sunday and Monday -- and on Wednesday, Edmundo Tellez Ramirez was arrested in the case, said Sgt. Edgard Padilla of the Pomona Police Department.

Ramirez was described as a transient.

“On August 8th and 9th, seven downtown business owners reported their windows broken,'' according to a police statement.

“Pomona Public Library staff also reported a broken window. A witness called Pomona PD a few days later and reported seeing the suspect in the area of the library. With the assistance of witnesses and security camera footage, Pomona PD was able to connect the suspect to the vandalism.''

No other information was immediately available.

Anyone with information on the case was encouraged to contact the Pomona Police Department at 909-620-2085. Anonymous tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or submitted online at lacrimestoppers.org.
