Jamie Spears, father of Britney Spears, indicated that he will quit his role as conservator of her estate.
In June and July Britney testified she was forced to undergo medical treatments and had limited control over her life due to the conservatorship. She characterized it as abusive. The online community showed huge support for Britney starting the #FreeBritney movement. They led protests and rallies outside the LA courthouse where hearings have been held. The hope was to remove her father from the conservatorship.
"Mr. Spears intends to work with the court and his daughter's new attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservatorship appointed." said Jamie's attorney.
According to the filing, Spears' removal as conservator is likely to be heard on Sept. 29.
Until this filing, Jamie Spears resisted his removal as conservator. Britney's attorney wants to see her father step down at once.
