Coroner IDs Woman Found Dead Inside Burning Home in Bell Gardens

BELL GARDENS (CNS) - A woman found dead by firefighters while they battled a house fire in Bell Gardens was publicly identified today.

Piedad Munoz, 63, was a Bell Gardens resident, according to the coroner's office.

The cause of the fire and the victim's death were under investigation. Neither were immediately apparent, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Bell Gardens police, along with county firefighters, responded at 3:56 a.m. Sunday to a report of a structure fire in the 5700 block of Live Oak Street.

“Upon arriving, they discovered a woman unresponsive inside,'' according to an LASD statement. “The victim was removed from the burning home and later pronounced dead at the scene.''

The sheriff's Homicide Bureau urged anyone with information regarding the death to call them at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
