There's good news for people who long to risk their lives flying into the cold, dark wasteland of space: Virgin Galactic has begun selling seats on upcoming space flights!
The bad news? The company is charging $450,000 per ticket...
And that's just the starting price.
Virgin Galactic is also offering package deals and opportunities to book entire flights -- for considerably higher fees, says CEO Michael Colglazier. He adds "early hand-raisers" will get dibs on their desired seats.
“Sales will initially open to the Company’s significant list of early hand-raisers, prioritizing the Spacefarer Community, who, as promised, will be given first opportunity to reserve their place in space,” the company said. “A follow-on priority list will be opened to customers interested in reserving future spaceflights.”
Although the announcement was made after the stock market closed, Virgin Galactic shares climbed 5 percent in after-hours trading.
