LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose one-tenth of a cent today to $4.352, one day after dropping one-tenth of a cent.
The average price is four-tenths of a cent more than one week ago, 8.3 cents higher than one month ago and $1.209 greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
“Our markets have seen flatter prices in the past two weeks because of concerns over increased COVID cases and the possibility of higher oil production in the future,'' said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager. “However, demand remains strong, so we are still seeing slight price increases.''
The average price has risen $1.12 since the start of the year because of a sharp increase in the oil price, and higher demand stemming from more people driving to work, according to Spring.
The Orange County average price rose a half-cent to $4.317, one day after increasing one-tenth of a cent. It is seven-tenths of a cent more than one week ago, 8.7 cents higher than one month ago and $1.187 greater than one year ago. It has risen $1.109 since the start of the year to its highest amount since April 29, 2014.
