LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was unchanged today, remaining at $4.352, one day after a run of seven increases in eight days ended when it dropped two-tenths of a cent.

The average price is 1.3 cents more than one week ago, 9.4 cents higher than one month ago and $1.223 greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has risen $1.12 since the start of the year because of a sharp increase in the oil price, and because of higher demand due to more people driving to work, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.

The Orange County average price dropped four-tenths of a cent to $4.311, one day after rising two-tenths of a cent. It is 1 cent more than one week ago, 9.7 cents higher than one month ago and $1.197 greater than one year ago. It has risen $1.103 since the start of the year.
