LONG BEACH (CNS) - A 20-year-old man was charged today with a series of break-ins at restaurants in Long Beach.
Corey James Swayney is facing eight counts of second-degree commercial burglary, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
Detectives were able to determine through video surveillance footage that one suspect was involved in the series of burglaries, which occurred between last Saturday and Monday, according to Long Beach police.
Each restaurant was broken into through its front door and money and/or electronics were stolen, police said.
The restaurants that were targeted were in:
-- the 200 block of The Promenade North;
-- the 1800 block of Ximeno Avenue;
-- the 100 block of Atlantic Avenue;
-- two locations in the 2100 block of East Broadway;
-- the 1800 block of East 7th Street; and
-- two locations in the 3700 block of Long Beach Boulevard.
Swayney, a Long Beach resident, was arrested Wednesday and has remained behind bars since then, jail records show.
