LOS ANGELES (CNS) - An investigation was underway today into the death of a homeless man who climbed an outdoor architectural structure at the Hollenback Community Police Station and onto a radio tower before plunging to his death.

The man climbed to the top of a radio broadcast tower attached to the station at 2111 E. First St. once he reached the roof of the building about 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, said Officer Jeffrey Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations division. At the top, the man walked to the edge of the tower and somehow fell or jumped to the pavement below.

Paramedics pronounced the man, who was in his 30s, dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of his next-of-kin.

It was unclear if the man's fall was intentional or accidental, Lee said.
